Position Summary: The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) plays a key role in delivering safe, efficient, and patient‑centered outpatient care. Under the direction of the Clinic Manager, the CMA performs clinical and administrative duties, demonstrates strong communication skills, and prioritizes tasks in a fast‑paced environment. This role requires clinical competency, professionalism, and a commitment to high‑quality patient service.

Requirements

  • 2 years of Certified Medical Assistant experience required; 3 years preferred
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program
  • Active certification required from one of the following approved agencies: CMA (AAMA), CCMA (NHA), RMA (AMT), NCMA (NCCT), NRCMA (NAHP)
  • Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required upon hire

Responsibilities

  • Performs core clinical tasks safely and accurately while maintaining effective written and verbal communication
  • Operates devices used to track vital signs and patient status in real time
  • Inputs, retrieves, and interprets patient information using electronic health systems
  • Summarizes and communicates patient data clearly to support care coordination
  • Interacts effectively with patients, families, physicians, and the care team to support high‑quality outpatient care
  • Utilizes standard applications and electronic health record platforms
  • Operates vital signs machines, cardiac monitors, ECG devices, point‑of‑care testing tools, sterilization equipment, scopes, and emergency equipment
  • Identifies early signs of changing patient status and promptly alerts appropriate clinical staff
  • Applies critical thinking to support safe and effective patient care
  • Acts as a role model and provides guidance to peers in the clinical setting
  • Identifies opportunities to enhance patient safety and care outcomes
  • Takes appropriate clinical actions using available resources to support positive outcomes
  • Independently organizes daily assignments to meet clinic needs
  • Follows established procedures and regulatory standards
  • Rooms patients and prepares them for evaluation; assists physicians and physician assistants during exams; sets up rooms, equipment, and supplies for procedures; and supports providers during in‑office procedures
  • Answers patient calls and provides timely, accurate responses; reviews and responds to RightFax communications; monitors and manages electronic health record (EHR) in‑basket messages
  • Completes prior authorization requests to support patient access to medications and services
  • Performs other tasks as assigned by physicians, providers, nurses, preceptors, and leadership
