About The Position

The Certified Medical Assistant/CMA will deliver care to patients utilizing the Certified Medical Assistant Process and performs general patient care by following established standards and procedures. This role involves greeting and preparing patients for the healthcare provider, obtaining and recording vital signs, documenting patient plans of care, and communicating test results. The CMA will also be responsible for preparing, cleaning, and sterilizing instruments, maintaining equipment, and ensuring exam rooms are stocked, clean, and orderly. This position may also involve front office duties and other tasks as assigned by management or healthcare providers. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (REQUIRED)
  • CMA - Current Medical Assistant Certification Upon Hire (REQUIRED)
  • Basic computer skills using medical management application systems
  • Effectively communicate with staff and patients
  • Thorough knowledge of the meaning and use of medical terminology and abbreviations
  • Demonstrate sound judgement in emergency situations
  • Take appropriate action in urgent circumstances
  • Maintain a positive, customer-focused attitude toward staff and patients
  • Possess a strong work ethic and always display a high level of professionalism

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year Medical Assistant experience (PREFERRED)
  • Will consider a new CMA that has completed an Externship
  • ACLS or BCLS (PREFERRED)
  • Ability to perform EKGs, draw blood and administer injections

Responsibilities

  • Delivers care to patients utilizing the Certified Medical Assistant Process and performs general patient care by following established standards and procedures.
  • Greets and prepares patients for the health care provider and obtains and records vital signs including, but not limited to blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration, height, weight, drug allergies, and current medications and presenting problem.
  • Documents patient plan(s) of care, tests and examination results in the medical record as directed by the provider.
  • Communicates with patient regarding test results and plan of care by phone or mail as directed by physician.
  • Prepares, cleans, and sterilizes instruments and maintains equipment, disposing of contaminated items according to protocol.
  • Keeps patient exam rooms stocked, clean and orderly.
  • Ensures safety checklists/quality controls are completed as required and provides for patient safety and protection of patient privacy rights.
  • May work in the front office as needed, as well as perform other duties as assigned by practice manager, more senior staff, or as requested by healthcare provider(s).
