About The Position

Seeking a highly motivated individual interested in supporting multiple areas within the ambulatory clinic setting. The Certified Medical Assistant / Registered Medical Assistant performs routine administrative and patient care support duties in a medical practice to assist medical and/or nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients and ensures that the office runs smoothly.

Responsibilities

  • Room patients and collect pertinent information, including chief complaint, family history, social history, surgical history, medication reconciliation, and vital signs.
  • Complete telephone communications with patients, families, pharmacies, and healthcare facilities per department policies.
  • Perform administrative duties, including patient check-in/check-out, scheduling appointments, prior authorizations, benefit verification, referrals, testing coordination, and form completion.
  • Assist with office procedures and perform department-approved clinical procedures and point-of-care testing.
  • Administer medications and injections per provider orders.
  • Assist with prescription refill requests, call medications into pharmacies, notify patients of refills, and document actions in the EMR.
  • Collect, process, and handle laboratory specimens according to established procedures.
  • Provide patients with written instructions, follow-up information, and approved educational materials as directed by providers.
  • Maintain department-specific competencies related to point-of-care testing, equipment handling, and specialty training.
  • Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills and knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Adapt to changing workloads, patient volumes, and departmental needs.
  • Support multiple ambulatory clinics and perform department-specific job functions when floating.
  • Support HAMP coverage needs and other clinic operations as assigned.
  • May be required to work weekends, holidays, and temporary or pop-up clinic assignments as needed.
