This position is clinical in nature and involves providing indirect and/or direct patient care within the scope of practice and in alignment with the standards of excellence and quality. Under the direction of the provider, the Medical Assistant contributes to the completion of the patient’s chief complaint, documents patient/family needs, participates in planning and implementing care for patients, and administers ordered medications. The role requires understanding and adhering to legal responsibilities, identifying significant changes in patient condition, troubleshooting issues, and demonstrating standards of excellence in all interactions. The Medical Assistant will maintain clinical and administrative skills, prepare patients for physician examinations, and may travel to other facilities. Maintaining a safe and supportive environment by keeping the work area, exam rooms, and equipment in clean, orderly, and safe condition is essential. The position also involves assisting with virtual health visits, documenting in electronic medical records (EMR) accurately, managing in-basket messages in the EHR, and potentially performing front desk workflows such as patient registration, scheduling, phone triage, and check-in/check-out. Other duties include ordering supplies, tracking referrals, labs, and diagnostic tests, and disposing of contaminated supplies.
