About The Position

Axia Women's Health is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) I for their Lexington Women's Health Care Center in Lexington, KY, Hamburg and Brannon Crossing. The CMA will professionally engage patients by assisting with patient care, recording critical patient information, and providing information to patients to help them utilize and benefit from clinical services. This role involves adhering to OSHA guidelines, infection control protocols, preparing and cleaning exam/procedure rooms, and maintaining equipment. The CMA will also maintain patient records by accurately recording medical history, vital signs, symptoms, and medications, and obtaining/scanning lab, imaging, and hospital reports into the EMR. Responsibilities include performing venipuncture, collecting specimens, assisting providers with procedures and screenings, relaying instructions to patients, and completing forms/requisitions. The position also requires adherence to Patient Confidentiality Policies and HIPAA regulations. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED)
  • Current national certification such as a CMA, RMA, CCMA, or NCMA required
  • CPR certification required
  • Successful ability to work with teams across the business to maximize the impact of the overall business effort
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis

Nice To Haves

  • A minimum of 1 year recent experience working in a medical facility as a medical assistant or combination of experience and documented internship in a medical office preferred
  • Previous experience in an OB/GYN setting preferred
  • Greenway experience is a strong plus

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with patient care
  • Recording critical patient information
  • Providing information to patients
  • Preparing exam/procedure rooms between patient visits
  • Cleaning rooms
  • Setting up instruments and equipment
  • Maintaining and cleaning sterilizer according to scheduled maintenance program
  • Accompanying patients to exam/procedure room
  • Assisting patients with walking transfers or dressing
  • Accurately recording patient medical history
  • Obtaining and recording patient vital signs, symptoms, complaints, and medications
  • Obtaining and scanning any lab or imaging reports, as well as any hospital notes into the EMR
  • Performing venipuncture and collecting specimens as needed
  • Assisting provider with various procedures and screenings
  • Relaying instructions and pertinent information to patients
  • Completing forms/requisitions as needed
  • Adhering to Patient Confidentiality Policies and HIPAA regulations
  • Performing other duties as assigned
