About The Position

Axia Women's Health is seeking a Full Time Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join their OBGYN of East Brunswick team, serving patients in East Brunswick, Piscataway, and Edison, NJ. The CMA will professionally engage patients by assisting with care, recording critical patient information, and providing information to help patients utilize clinical services. This role adheres to OSHA guidelines, infection control protocols, and maintains patient records by accurately recording medical history, vital signs, and other pertinent information into the EMR. The CMA will also perform venipuncture, collect specimens, assist providers with procedures, and relay instructions to patients, while ensuring patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED, some college preferred.
  • Successful completion of a Medical Assistant education program.
  • Current national certification as a Medical Assistant, such as CMA, CCMA, RMA, or NCMA required.
  • CPR certification required.
  • Minimum 1 year of recent medical assistant experience in a medical facility/office or combination of experience and documented evidence of medical assistant internship.
  • Phlebotomy skills.
  • Ability to independently obtain patient vital signs.
  • Strong attention to detail & communication skills.
  • Successful ability to work with teams across the business to maximize the impact of the overall business effort.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and at satellite location(s), where applicable, as needed.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Nice To Haves

  • OB/GYN or Women’s Health experience preferred.
  • eClinicalWorks (EMR) experience beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Adhering to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines and standardized quality control methods and, per infection control protocols, preparing exam/procedure rooms between patient visits, cleaning rooms, setting up instruments and equipment, and maintaining and cleaning sterilizer according to scheduled maintenance program.
  • Accompanying patients to exam/procedure room, assisting as needed with walking transfers or dressing.
  • Maintaining patient records by accurately recording patient medical history, obtaining, and recording patient vital signs, symptoms, complaints, and medications, etc., and obtaining and scanning any lab or imaging reports, as well as any hospital notes into the EMR in order that the provider may have complete patient information.
  • Performing venipuncture and collecting specimens as needed.
  • Assisting provider with various procedures and screenings.
  • Relaying instructions and pertinent information to patients.
  • Completing forms/requisitions as needed to ensure patient records are accurate and that claims can be properly billed.
  • Adhering to Patient Confidentiality Policies and HIPAA regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
