Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) Family Medicine
About The Position
The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) in Family Medicine at Lourdes Medical Center is responsible for assisting physicians or nurses with patient assessments and treatments. This role involves performing basic diagnostic procedures, collecting specimens, monitoring patient conditions, and documenting care. The CMA will also maintain medical equipment and supplies, manage examination areas, and perform administrative tasks such as filing, scheduling, and patient registration. This position requires critical thinking, decisive judgment, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Current WA CCMA or CMA. must be obtained within the hire date.
- Current American Heart Association BLS certificate or obtained within 30 days of hire.
Responsibilities
- Under the supervision of physicians or nurses, assists with performing patient assessments and treatments.
- Performs basic diagnostic procedures and specimen collection.
- Monitors and communicates changes in patient condition.
- Documents patient care given.
- Maintains equipment and medical supplies, including reordering, stocking, cleaning, and troubleshooting.
- Maintains examination areas.
- Perform administrative or clerical duties as assigned, including filing, reception, scheduling, data entry, and patient registration.
- Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
