About The Position

Wake County Public Health Clinics provide services to all eligible Wake County residents regardless of race, background, or circumstance. We are currently seeking a skilled Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join #TeamWake! The Child Health Certified Medical Assistant position is part of a team that provides preventive and primary health services that support the growth, development, and overall well-being of children. The Child Health clinic operates Monday through Friday.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Six months of experience as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), certified nurse's assistant II (CNA II), registered medical assistant (RMA)
  • License or certification CNAII, CMA, RMA, by and accredited school recognized by the North Carolina Board of Nursing or United States Department of Education (USDE) or Council of Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)

Nice To Haves

  • Medical Assisting associate’s degree or equivalent (2 year)
  • Active certification
  • Experience in Women's Health, Child’s Health, or Public Health
  • Spanish language fluency/skills (verbal and written) are highly preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication, listening, and health education skills
  • Strong client/customer service, interpersonal, and teamwork skills; demonstrates respect for and value of diversity
  • Knowledge of client programs, organizational structure, culture, and internal/external community referral resources
  • Skilled in electronic medical records, data collection and management systems, filing systems, and electronic documentation
  • Ability to follow established processes and instructions while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to organize, compile, maintain, and securely store information in electronic and paper formats
  • Ability to assess, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks while meeting deadlines and maintaining efficient client flow
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-directed and proactive, with strong problem-solving skills
  • Technical ability to administer injections and vaccines and willingness to learn additional clinical procedures
  • Proficiency with computers, printers, scanners, fax machines, and other office equipment
  • Ability to complete required annual CPR and OSHA training

Responsibilities

  • Receive delegated tasks from Registered Nurse
  • Measuring and recording of vital signs
  • Maintain examination rooms by ensuring they are properly prepared for use by health providers and clients.
  • Administer vaccinations
  • Collect lab specimens
  • Assist with managing supplies
  • Document in electronic medical record (EMR) per policy
  • Clean the work areas as directed by OSHA regulations
