About The Position

NaphCare is hiring a Certified Medical Assistant/Certified Nursing Assistant (CMA/CNA) to join their team in the Eyman Facility in Florence, AZ. This role involves working alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide care to individuals in residence within a controlled environment where security is a top priority. The position offers varied duties, including assisting physicians with examinations, taking patient histories and vital signs, and supporting administrative tasks. It's a unique opportunity to make a difference in the lives of a diverse patient population with complex medical needs. New graduates are encouraged to apply as training will be provided in correctional healthcare.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED Certificate
  • Current Certification as Certified Medical Assistant in AZ
  • Able to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
  • Must possess an active BLS CPR Certification (AHA preferred)
  • Ability to interact effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds, including those with mental health or substance abuse issues
  • Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information and integrity, professionalism and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
  • Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening
  • Must have the ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.

Responsibilities

  • Performing patient assessments, interviewing patients about current health problems, medication history
  • Taking vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, and weight
  • Administering medication (under the direction of a physician)
  • Providing basic wound care
  • Performing basic laboratory tests
  • Assisting providers during patient examinations and procedures
  • Providing basic patient education and instructions
  • Scheduling and coordinating patient appointments
  • Maintaining inventory of medical and office supplies
  • Answering phones, emails and other forms of communications
