About The Position

This role involves both direct clinical activities and front desk operations. As a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), you will perform patient intake, blood draws, manage pharmacy calls, conduct EKGs, and perform other tests as directed by a physician. Accurate documentation in an EMR system is crucial. You will also maintain close working relationships with practice staff to ensure efficient workflow and patient care. As a Business Associate (BA), you will handle front desk duties including greeting patients, registration, ensuring insurance compliance, and collecting payments. You will manage the daily patient schedule, answer incoming calls, schedule appointments, process medication refills, and relay inquiries to clinical or billing staff. Coordination with clinical staff for patient needs and ensuring smooth patient flow are key. You will also support practice and professional staff as directed by the Practice Manager.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a formal Medical Assistant program recognized by the State of New Jersey.
  • Certification required as a certified medical assistant or registered medical assistant recognized by the Board of Examiners (e.g., AMT, AAMA, NCCT).
  • Completion of formal coursework in office management, database management, or business.
  • Six (6) months of previous customer service/data entry, administrative/office management/clerical experience required.
  • Ability to use effective organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to respond quickly to urgent/emergent situations.
  • Strong communication skills (oral, written, presentation) to convey information clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to create, maintain, and support a high-functioning team.
  • Ability to establish and foster cooperative working relationships with staff and management.
  • Ability to function effectively as part of a team.
  • Demonstrates behavior that is courteous, caring, respectful, and compassionate at all times.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous MA experience in a clinic, physician's office, or outpatient setting preferred.
  • BCLS certification preferred upon hire.
  • Understanding of the operations of a medical practice preferred.
  • Strong orientation towards the provisions of high quality, cost-effective, and comprehensive medical care.
