About The Position

This is a part-time evening position for a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) and Business Associate (BA) in Primary & Walk-In Care in Montvale. The CMA performs direct clinical activities under the direction of a physician, Charge RN, or Manager, including patient intake, blood draws, pharmacy calls, EKGs, and other physician-required tests. They are responsible for accurate EMR documentation and maintaining close working relationships with practice staff for optimal workflow and care. The BA handles front desk activities such as greeting, registering patients, ensuring insurance compliance, collecting payments, managing the daily patient schedule, and answering incoming calls. The BA also coordinates with clinical staff for special needs and patient flow, and supports the practice and professional staff as directed by the Practice Manager.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a formal Medical Assistant program recognized by the State of New Jersey.
  • Certification as a certified medical assistant or registered medical assistant recognized by the Board of Examiners such as American Medical Technology (AMT), American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) required.
  • Completion of formal coursework in office management, database management or business, computer literacy.
  • Six (6) months of previous customer service/data entry, administrative/office management/clerical experience required.
  • Ability to use effective organizational and time management skills to set priorities and respond quickly to urgent/emergent situations.
  • Strong communication--both oral, written and presentation skills to convey information in a clear and concise manner to persons of varied age groups, customers and/or groups.
  • Ability to create, maintain and support a high functioning team; establish and foster cooperative working relationships with staff and management; and function effectively as part of that team.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous MA experience in a clinic, physician's office or outpatient setting preferred.
  • Understanding of the operations of a medical practice preferred.
  • Strong orientation towards the provisions of high quality, cost effective and comprehensive medical care.
  • BCLS certification preferred upon hire, will be required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform direct clinical activities including patient intake, blood draw, pharmacy calls, EKG and any tests required by the physician.
  • Accurately document in an EMR system in accordance with licensure and VMG policy and procedures.
  • Maintain close working relationships with all practice staff to ensure proper workflow, care and treatment.
  • Greet, register patients, ensure insurance compliance and collect appropriate payment at time of service.
  • Maintain the daily patient schedule.
  • Answer all incoming calls, schedule appointments, handle medication refills or pass along inquiries of a clinical or billing nature.
  • Coordinate with the clinical staff on any special needs or requirements and ensuring proper patient flow.
  • Support the Practice and professional staff as directed or requested by Practice Manager.
