About The Position

This role involves performing direct clinical activities under the direction of a physician, Charge RN, or Manager, including patient intake, blood draws, pharmacy calls, EKGs, and other required tests. The position also requires accurate documentation in an EMR system and maintaining close working relationships with practice staff for efficient workflow. Additionally, the role encompasses front desk activities such as greeting patients, registration, ensuring insurance compliance, collecting payments, managing the daily patient schedule, and handling incoming calls for appointments, medication refills, or inquiries. Coordination with clinical staff for special needs and ensuring proper patient flow are also key responsibilities. Support for the practice and professional staff as directed by the Practice Manager is expected.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a formal Medical Assistant program recognized by the State of New Jersey.
  • Certification required as a certified medical assistant or registered medical assistant recognized by the Board of Examiners (e.g., AMT, AAMA, NCCT).
  • Completion of formal coursework in office management, database management, or business.
  • Six (6) months of previous customer service/data entry, administrative/office management/clerical experience.
  • Current and valid certification as a certified medical assistant or registered medical assistant.
  • BCLS certification preferred upon hire, will be required.
  • Understanding of the operations of a medical practice.
