About The Position

Nashville CARES is a leading organization in Middle Tennessee dedicated to ending the HIV epidemic through a comprehensive approach that includes prevention, treatment, and supportive services. The organization strives to improve the lives of individuals at risk and those living with HIV, with work grounded in education, advocacy, and delivering high-quality, inclusive healthcare. The clinic provides a wide range of services, including HIV care, prevention (PrEP and PEP), STI testing and treatment, and overall sexual health services. They are looking for a bilingual Certified Medical Assistant who is committed to delivering inclusive, patient-centered care and thrives in a collaborative environment.

Requirements

  • Active CMA certification in the state of Tennessee
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • At least 2 years of experience in a clinical setting as a CMA or LPN preferred
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish required
  • Strong communication, organization, and patient care skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with EMR systems is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for visits by taking vital signs and recording medical histories and medications
  • Perform phlebotomy and administer medications, including injections
  • Collect and handle lab specimens for both in-house and external testing
  • Support providers during clinical procedures and technical tasks
  • Manage front-line responsibilities such as answering calls, scheduling appointments, and triaging patient concerns
  • Maintain accurate documentation and patient records
  • Ensure clinic spaces are clean, organized, and welcoming for patients
  • Handle sensitive patient information with strict confidentiality
  • Respond to challenging situations with professionalism and a patient-focused approach
  • Participate in required trainings, including HIV-related education and organizational initiatives
  • Contribute to quality improvement efforts and daily clinic operations
  • Perform additional duties as needed
