About The Position

Finger Lakes Health is seeking a passionate and experienced Certified Teacher to join our Jim Dooley Early Learning Center! This is a full-time, day shift position with no weekend hours required, offering a competitive hourly rate and a $1,000 sign-on bonus for full-time employees. The role involves creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment for young children, implementing a high-quality Pre-K curriculum, and adhering to various educational standards and regulations. The Lead Teacher will also supervise and mentor Teaching Assistants, collaborate with other educators, and build positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field
  • NYS teaching license, or a written plan to obtain certification within 5 years
  • Valid NYS teaching license or certificate qualifying the candidate to provide services in the childhood grades established by NYS Education Law is required for the UPK Lead Teacher position
  • Minimum 3 years of full-time teaching experience in an educational preschool or related classroom setting

Responsibilities

  • Provide nurturing, individualized care based on each child's developmental needs, in partnership with families
  • Develop and implement a high-quality, developmentally appropriate Pre-K curriculum
  • Follow NYS Department of Education Pre-K standards, NAEYC standards, NYS regulations, and Center policies
  • Attend monthly UPK meetings with the Geneva School District
  • Supervise and mentor Teaching Assistants, helping them develop their skills and achieve professional goals
  • Serve as a preceptor for new teachers, providing guidance and support throughout orientation and training
  • Collaborate with other Lead Teachers to plan, organize, and evaluate Center educational programs
  • Participate in Center improvement initiatives and help promote a culture of continuous learning
  • Complete classroom documentation accurately and efficiently
  • Prepare newsletters and other communications for families
  • Conduct Pre-K entrance developmental screenings and online assessments
  • Build positive relationships with children, families, and fellow educators
