About The Position

West Fraser's Edson division in Edson, Alberta, is recruiting for a Certified Journeyperson Trades Position. We are currently seeking an experienced, dedicated and proactive tradesperson to join our maintenance team here at Edson Forest Products. As a key player in our sawmill maintenance team, you will be responsible to ensure the ongoing functionality and safety of our machinery and equipment.

Requirements

Certified Trade Journeyperson
Ability to work independently and efficiently, with strong problem-solving skills
Proven experience in maintenance within a sawmill or similar industrial setting
Ability to read drawings and identify equipment components
Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing mechanical equipment
Flexibility to work in shifts and respond to emergency maintenance requests
Strong understanding of safety protocols and procedures within an industrial setting
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate clearly with colleagues
Good with working at heights
Great troubleshooting skills

Responsibilities

Welding and gouging on a wide range of equipment and machinery
Performing repairs and rebuilding mill components
Fabrication and welding of multiple material types
Assisting other trades throughout the mill
Ensuring adherence to safety protocols and procedures at all times
Conducting routine inspections and addressing any maintenance issues promptly
Implementing preventive maintenance strategies to extend the lifespan of machinery
