Certified Instrument Technician - Atrium Health Mercy
About The Position
The Certified Instrument Technician will work in Sterile Processing Services at Atrium Health Mercy. This full-time position requires adherence to safety standards, performing efficacy and quality testing, and processing various types of instrumentation including flexible scopes utilizing High Level Disinfection (HLD). The role involves determining and preparing necessary supplies for assembly, inspecting and assembling instruments for cleanliness and functionality, and packaging and labeling instrumentation according to standards. Additionally, the technician will ensure sterilization equipment functionality and perform various sterilization methods including high temperature (steam) and low temperature (gas plasma, ethylene oxide, liquid chemical) sterilization.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Certified Sterile Processing Technician (CSPDT) or Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) required.
Nice To Haves
- Second (2:30pm-11pm) and third shift (10:30pm-7am) available.
- Weekend and holiday on-call rotation requirement.
Responsibilities
- Adheres to safety standards.
- Identifies, responds & reports malfunctions and/or alarms.
- Performs efficacy and quality testing for all processes and equipment.
- Identifies manual and/or mechanical cleaning according to the manufacturer's IFU for all general, laparoscopic, orthopedic, neuro, cardiovascular, power, instrumentation.
- Performs flexible scope processing utilizing High Level Disinfection (HLD).
- Determines, prepares, and uses supplies required in the assembly process.
- Identifies, inspects, assembles general & specialty instruments checking for cleanliness & functionality utilizing count sheets.
- Packages and labels instrumentation following standards.
- Safely determines sterilization equipment functionality, operation, monitoring, and maintenance with verification and documentation of sterilization process.
- Performs high temperature (steam) and low temperature (gas plasma, ethylene oxide, liquid chemical) sterilization.
