About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Chief Building Official or designee, performs residential and commercial inspections to ensure compliance with state and local building codes, approved construction plans, and applicable safety regulations. Reviews construction-related documentation, prepares inspection reports, maintains records, and communicates with contractors, property owners, and the public regarding code compliance and corrective actions during construction; communicates as directed by the Chief Building Official with permit holders/contractors/architects/engineers, regarding status of construction plan/code compliance; assists in the dissemination of Chief Building Official's orders.

Requirements

State and local building codes knowledge
Knowledge of approved construction plans
Knowledge of applicable safety regulations
Ability to review construction-related documentation
Ability to prepare inspection reports
Ability to maintain records
Communication skills for interacting with contractors, property owners, and the public
Communication skills for interacting with permit holders/contractors/architects/engineers
Ability to assist in disseminating orders
