Click here to learn more about EFI Global. Seeking experienced Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) for work in the industrial hygiene and environmental health and safety services specialties. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in forensics, insurance loss, disaster or catastrophic loss of commercial, residential, and industrial properties, including scope preparation and deliverables.. Manufacturing or government experience could be a transferable skillset. Evaluation of impact to properties individually or as a team to determine cause and scope of damages related to property conditions. Recognizing hazards and determining methods of evaluation for chemical, biological and fire (combustion byproduct) substances. Determine remediation/restoration protocols to address asbestos, lead, mold, moisture and other environmental hazards. Food contamination, spoilage, and adulteration analysis and toxicology consulting experience is highly desired. Environmental claims management experience is desired. Provide expert witness support in litigation matters, including testimony as required. Provide technical guidance and support for team members. This is a hybrid/remote role. Prefer candidate reside in the greater Los Angeles or greater San Francisco area. PRIMARY PURPOSE: To conduct complex investigations and on-site analysis to recognize, eliminate, and control occupational health hazards and diseases using experience and advanced education and training.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in physical sciences, biological sciences, or engineering with an emphasis on environmental health, industrial hygiene, physiology, toxicology or biology from an accredited college or university preferred.
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).
  • Eight (8) years of related experience in industrial hygiene or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Knowledge of the principles of industrial hygiene and workplace hazards
  • Knowledge of scientific methods used in health hazard control
  • Knowledge of state and federal statutes concerning industrial hygiene and air pollution
  • Skilled in organization and interpretation of field data and in identifying necessary corrections
  • Knowledge in environmental consulting and remediation, including liability assessment, insurance claims, advisory work, and expert witness engagements.
  • Ability to organize, assign and coordinate the work of others

Responsibilities

  • Conducts complex investigations and on-site analysis to recognize, eliminate, and control occupational health hazards and diseases.
  • Collects samples of dust, gases, vapors, and other potentially toxic materials for analysis.
  • Investigates adequacy of ventilation, exhaust equipment, lighting, and other conditions that may affect occupant health, comfort, or efficiency.
  • Inspects and evaluates work operations and processes to determine potential contaminate emission sources or related health hazards associated with workplace conditions.
  • Conducts investigations of working conditions in places of employment for the prevention of occupational disease and industrial health hazards, with specific reference to toxins, noise, or harmful physical agents.
  • Measures airborne concentrations of dust, gases and mists using air sampling tools and collections devices.
  • Collects samples of work materials to detect and evaluate occupant exposure to toxic substances.
  • Determines effectiveness of engineering control methods and makes recommendations regarding location, design, structure, operations, and maintenance of contaminant and physical agent control systems.
  • Interprets rules and regulations to officials of industry and others.
  • Consults with management, engineers, and other agencies regarding industrial health problems and solutions.
  • Examines, for approval, plans and specifications of proposed contaminant and physical agent control.
  • Maintains records and prepares reports and correspondence.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
