Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in environmental science or engineering, or a related field
  • IH and/or safety experience in DC Metro Area.
  • Professional accreditation Required (e.g., Certified Industrial Hygienist [CIH], Certified Safety Professional [CSP] or Certified Hazardous Materials Manager [CHMM]).
  • Proven results in project, staff, and business management.
  • Proficient in MS Office suite.
  • Excellent technical communication, teamwork, business development, and staff management skills.
  • Deep understanding of safe work practices.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct inspections; ensuring compliance with safety and Industrial Hygiene standards and regulations; monitors and provides guidance on workplace hazards and corrective actions.
  • Provides consultative services to managers, technical personnel, other government entities and contractors on Occupations Health and Industrial Hygiene.
  • Knowledgeable of EPA and OSHA standards, rules, regulations, fire safety codes, and other guidelines governing facilities management in order to monitor and ensure that the Agency complies with all mandates.
  • Ability to determine levels and types of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE); ensuring medical clearance and fit testing procedures, and annual recurring requirements are done; analyzes and documents environmental conditions.
  • Develops sampling methods, protocols and control measures.
  • Provides consultation to management, other Federal, state, local agencies, vendors, consultants and contractors on standards for Industrial Hygiene service.
  • Prepare analysis, reports, budget and procurement justifications, study findings, and recommendations to senior management.
  • Perform various types of indoor testing to include but not limited to Air quality, lead, and noise sampling.
