About The Position

Central Maine Healthcare (CMH), a member of Prime Healthcare Foundation, is an integrated healthcare delivery system serving approximately 400,000 residents across central, western, and midcoast Maine through a network of more than 40 primary and specialty care locations. Requirements

• HT/ASCP Certification, or equivalent, required
• Current and Valid State License if the laboratory is located in a state where required

Nice To Haves

• One year hospital laboratory work experience preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Preparation of specimens for microscopic evaluation by the Pathologist through the use of a microtomy, special staining, histochemistry, and other appropriate techniques in accordance with the Pathology policy and procedures.
• Must be versed in a range of procedures including processing, cutting, embedding of all types of tissue and body fluid samples.
• Performance of routine and special staining procedures.
• Knowledge of immunohistochemical staining procedures if applicable to job duties.
• Use and maintenance of histology equipment.
• Maintenance of manuals, logs and files appropriate to the department.
• Other tasks or responsibilities may be assigned by the department manager/director.
