About The Position

Hartford HealthCare Rehabilitation Network is the premier rehabilitation provider in Connecticut, offering services across a continuum of care including acute care hospitals, long-term care facilities, sub-acute rehabilitation, homecare, outpatient centers, and community settings. With over 30 outpatient locations and a variety of specialists, they are known for their commitment to high quality, customer-focused outcomes. This role is for a Certified Hand Therapist in their Outpatient Rehab Clinic in New Britain, CT. The therapist will independently evaluate patients' hand and upper extremity function, develop and implement individualized treatment plans, and deliver direct care to maximize mobility and remediate dysfunction or pain. This includes assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation planning for various hand and upper extremity conditions, such as post-surgical patients, tendon injuries, and fractures.

Requirements

  • Outpatient OT experience required
  • Certified Hand Therapist from HTCC (Hand Therapy Certification Commission) preferred
  • Bachelors, Masters or Doctoral Degree in Occupational Therapy from a program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE).
  • License to practice as an OT in the state of CT.
  • Certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT®).

Nice To Haves

  • Hand experience, CHT preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Upon referral, performs thorough examination and evaluation of surgical and non-surgical patient’s level of upper extremity function.
  • Performs evaluations for upper extremity strength, motor control, joint mobility, soft tissue integrity, pain, and functional abilities of daily living.
  • Deliver therapeutic techniques that are appropriate to patient’s needs and medical status.
  • Implement, deliver and delegate patient care by utilizing appropriate interventions and clinical decision making.
  • Therapeutic techniques include but are not limited to: exercises, pain management, wound care, swelling, and orthotics.
  • Fabrication of upper extremity orthoses where required per treatment plan.
