About The Position

The Certified Fitter in the Healing Boutique is responsible for garment fittings, including stockings and other durable medical equipment items, breast prosthesis and post mastectomy services as deemed medically necessary by physician orders. This position is also responsible for fitting customers with breast prosthesis and post mastectomy services including but not limited to lymph edema and compression sleeves. The Certified Fitter provides patient follow up and implementation of a treatment plan using external breast prosthesis and other post-mastectomy products. The treatment includes, but is not limited to: verification of prescription/documentation, a needs assessment based on patient and/or caregiver input., consultation with and/or referral to other healthcare professionals, adjustments to accommodate individual anatomic contours, patient education and instruction. This role manages the product inventory and special custom orders within budget. Utilizes a follow-up treatment plan that ensures successful mastectomy prosthetic outcomes., of, confirmation of patient education and instruction. Promotes competency and enhancement of post-mastectomy professional practice to contribute to the profession’s body of knowledge which includes, but is not limited to, participation in: continuing education, promotion of public awareness of the post-mastectomy profession, consumer organizations, governmental and non-governmental organizations. Performs functions consistent with supporting the entire Healing Boutique team including providing excellent customer service. Promotes the marketing strategies as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED preferred. In lieu of high school diploma or GED, a minimum of six years of work experience as a Garment Fitter and/or compression sleeves may be considered.
  • Basic reading comprehension skills required. For those without a GED or High School diploma, a passing result for a reading comprehension assessment is required for this position.
  • Three years of work experience as a Garment Fitter and compression sleeves.
  • Certification by one of following national Certification/Accreditation Boards: Mastectomy fitter Board of Certification and/or American Board for Certification Orthotics and Prosthetics and Certified Compression Fitter.
  • Up to date with industry standards and techniques.
  • Knowledge of medical necessity requirements for insurance companies, Coding and basic computer skills.
  • Excellent communication skills both in person and phone as well as the ability to multi-task.

  • Knowledge of DME billing preferred
