This specialized position requires a Certified Diabetes Educator certification, or previous experience with Diabetes Education and willingness to complete certification. The Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Dietician (RD), Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE), provides community-based care in the prevention and management of diabetes. They participate in the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of programs and services for the community, individuals and families that are affected by diabetes. The RN/RD CDE works closely with the Registered Dietitian CDE and others to achieve a successful regional Diabetes Education Program. The RN/RD CDE acts as an ambassador for the Napanee Area Community Health Centre in the community and promotes positive partnerships with other providers to maximize the capacity for diabetes interventions in South East Ontario.
