About The Position

The Certified Dental Assistant, Level 2 Assistant, plays a crucial role in supporting dental professionals to deliver high-quality patient care within a dental practice. This position involves preparing treatment rooms, assisting dentists during procedures, and ensuring all instruments and materials are sterilized and ready for use. The role requires maintaining accurate patient records and providing patients with clear instructions for post-treatment care. The Certified Dental Assistant also contributes to the smooth operation of the clinic by managing inventory and coordinating with other team members. Ultimately, this position ensures a safe, efficient, and comfortable environment for both patients and dental staff.

Requirements

  • Certification as a Dental Assistant recognized by a Canadian provincial regulatory body.
  • Completion of an accredited dental assisting program.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Knowledge of dental terminology, procedures, and infection control standards.
  • Ability to legally work in Canada.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a dental office or clinical setting.
  • Familiarity with dental practice management software.
  • Additional certifications such as Radiography certification or Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) designation.
  • Strong communication skills in both English and French.
  • Continuing education in dental assisting or related fields.

Responsibilities

  • Assist dentists during various dental procedures by passing instruments and materials as needed.
  • Prepare and sterilize dental instruments and treatment rooms to meet health and safety standards.
  • Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) as directed by the dentist.
  • Maintain accurate patient records, including treatment details and medical histories.
  • Provide patients with post-operative instructions and answer their questions to ensure proper care.
  • Manage inventory of dental supplies and notify management when reordering is necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and workplace safety regulations.
  • Schedule patient appointments and assist with administrative tasks as required.
