Requirements

  • Proficient knowledge of medical coding systems (ICD-9, ICD-10)
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, procedures, and diagnoses
  • Strong understanding of medical billing processes and reimbursement methodologies
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in coding assignments
  • Ability to interpret complex medical documentation and translate it into accurate codes
  • CCS, CCS-P or RHIT (Required)
  • Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of DRG (Diagnosis Related Group) coding is a plus
  • Experience with medical collections or medical office operations is preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with healthcare providers and other team members

Responsibilities

  • Review medical records and documentation to identify relevant diagnoses and procedures
  • Assign appropriate medical codes using ICD-9, ICD-10, and other coding systems
  • Ensure coding accuracy and compliance with industry regulations and guidelines
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation and resolve coding discrepancies
  • Conduct regular audits to monitor coding quality and identify areas for improvement
  • Stay updated on changes in coding regulations, guidelines, and industry best practices
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to HIPAA regulations
  • Assist with medical billing processes as needed
