About The Position

MUSC Health is seeking a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) to join their Sports Medicine team on a PRN basis. This role involves providing high-quality athletic training and rehabilitation services, building relationships with athletes, coaches, parents, physicians, and healthcare teams across Lancaster and Chester counties. The position requires evaluating athletes, developing individualized training and rehabilitation programs, conducting intake assessments, maintaining medical records, coordinating care, and serving as a brand ambassador for MUSC Health. The role also includes attending events, participating in meetings, assisting with departmental operations, and providing coverage as needed throughout the specified counties.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree (BS/BA).
  • Certification by the National Athletic Trainers' Association.
  • Current Board of Certification for Athletic Trainers (BOC) certification.
  • Current certification/licensure as an Athletic Trainer in South Carolina through DHEC.
  • Excellent communicator who can adapt verbal and non-verbal communication to effectively interact with a diverse range of individuals, from school-age adolescents and adults to other healthcare professionals.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Athletic Training preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate athletes and develop, direct, and administer individualized athletic training and rehabilitation programs.
  • Conduct athlete intake assessments and maintain accurate medical records in the electronic medical record.
  • Coordinate athlete schedules, treatment plans, and follow-up care in collaboration with the Sports Medicine Coordinator.
  • Communicate effectively with physicians and other clinical disciplines to ensure seamless, coordinated care.
  • Build trust and serve as a MUSC Health brand ambassador with coaching staffs, Athletic Directors, student athletes, and parents.
  • Identify healthcare concerns and recommend appropriate solutions to support athlete health, safety, and performance.
  • Attend practices, games, tournaments, and special events as needed.
  • Participate in annual conferences and MUSC Health staff meetings.
  • Assist with departmental operations, including budgets, supply restocking, inventory, and other clerical responsibilities.
  • Provide coverage throughout Lancaster and Chester counties based on organizational needs.
