About The Position

Shriners Children’s is seeking a full-time Certified Athletic Trainer to join their Portland, OR team. This role is responsible for managing and providing care for injuries, as well as teaching preventative measures to avoid injuries, to physically active pediatric students/patients under the direction of a licensed physician. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (or entry level Masters) in Athletic Training
  • BOC Certified Athletic Trainer
  • Licensed as an Athletic Trainer in Oregon, or license eligible
  • 3 years athletic training experience
  • Current BLS by start date (through American Heart Association only)
  • COVID-19 Vaccination

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years’ experience in the clinical setting acting as a clinical AT/physician extender
  • 1 Year Pediatric experience

Responsibilities

  • Aid in quality care and treatment of patients.
  • Provide athletic training services in sports health and medicine clinics, including obtaining thorough history, reviewing medical records, performing orthopedic evaluations, teaching therapeutic exercises, assisting with care coordination, and providing applicable needs such as DME, casting, brace fitting, splinting, and post-operative wound and dressing care.
  • Assist healthcare providers with other needs during clinic.
  • Perform all aspects of clinical practice, including evaluation and treatment by obtaining medical, surgical, and occupational history of athletes according to standardized techniques, departmental standards, and age-appropriate guidelines.
  • Demonstrate appropriate clinical decision-making in all aspects of clinical practice and determine proper equipment usage, application, and body position/mechanics in the administration of treatment.
  • Be competent in the usage of all equipment/modalities standard in the practice of athletic training.
  • Provide patient and family education on home exercises or pre- and post-operative instructions.
  • Complete all appropriate clinical and medical documentation in the electronic medical records platform.
  • Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality.
  • Assist with clinic management and administration as needed and requested.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
