About The Position

Bucknell University is seeking an Assistant Athletic Trainer to join its Department of Athletics and Recreation. This role is responsible for the administration of injury/illness prevention, recognition, evaluation, management, treatment, and rehabilitation for student-athletes participating in the intercollegiate athletics program. The position also enforces health care policies and procedures regarding medical insurance, completes physical examinations, follows risk management processes, and communicates with various stakeholders including parents, coaches, health care professionals, administrators, faculty, staff, and student-athletes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in athletic training or a related field
  • BOC Certified for Athletic Trainers
  • Must possess a State of Pennsylvania License or be State of Pennsylvania License eligible
  • Must be authorized to work in the US without a need for current or future visa sponsorship

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree
  • Completed the national certification exam & are eligible for state licensure
  • 1-2 years collegiate athletics experience preferred
  • Athletic training experience in an NCAA Division I program is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provides healthcare for assigned teams to student-athletes within the Bucknell Department of Athletics by attending competitions and practices, including traveling with teams to away competitions.
  • Administers injury/illness prevention and immediate care.
  • Performs examination, assessment, diagnosis, and therapeutic intervention of all athletic-related injuries.
  • Oversees student-athletes' rehabilitation for athletic-related injuries to ensure a safe return to sport participation.
  • Assesses the nature of injuries (e.g., range of motion, strength) and makes referrals to physicians as appropriate.
  • Performs administrative duties related to insurance, medical history, and medical care and follow-up for student-athletes.
  • Assists with supplies, schedules, communications, and health and safety recommendations.
