About The Position

Seeking an Athletic Trainer for a full-time position in the Southern Indiana/Louisville, Kentucky area at Baptist Health Floyd, Physical Therapy. The Certified Athletic Trainer will provide athletic training services and act as a Physician Extender to Orthopedic patients in a clinical setting under the direction of a physician and in accordance with state athletic training practice act. This role involves maintaining general treatment orders, acting as a liaison between various parties (physicians, specialists, families, patients, medical staff), maintaining accurate injury records, assisting with promotional events, and covering outside events. The trainer will also support clinical therapy interventions and act as a physician extender. The position is part of a multi-disciplinary team within a regional, non-profit hospital that promotes continued education.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited Athletic Training program
  • Athletic Trainer licensure in state of practice
  • Athletic Trainer Certification issued by the Athletic Board of Certification (BOC)
  • BLS for Healthcare Provider from AHA, ARC, or AHSI

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited Athletic Training program preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide athletic training services and act as a Physician Extender to Orthopedic patients in a clinical setting upon direction from a physician, and in accordance with state athletic training practice act.
  • Maintain appropriate general treatment orders to be reviewed annually and approved by the physician.
  • Act as liaison between family physicians and specialists, athletes and their parents as needed.
  • Act as a liaison between patient, medical assistant, physician or physician office staff.
  • Maintain accurate records of injuries, treatments, and referrals in the injury tracking and referral electronic health record program.
  • Assist in promotional events for the sports medicine program as needed.
  • Cover outside events such as tournaments, races, etc. as needed.
  • Assist in the clinical setting with the implementation of specific therapy interventions under the direct supervision of a licensed provider and act as a physician extender.
  • Ensures provision of safe, competent services to all patients/residents in the following age groups within or outside of the hospital.
