About The Position

Cape Fox Concentric Methods is seeking a Certified Athletic Trainer to provide services to military personnel at JBSA-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas. The role involves evaluating, advising, and caring for students to aid in recovery from injury, injury prevention, and maintaining peak physical fitness. The trainer may be assigned to Special Warfare Operational Medicine Flights, supporting Pararescue and Combat Rescue Officer Apprentice courses, and will align clinical care with the standards set by the SW-OMS sports medicine physician or local leadership. The position is exempt with a salary of $70,200.00.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate sports/medical science field.
  • Possess and maintain a current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
  • Possess and maintain a current Certification in Athletic Training through the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA) Board of Certification (BOC).
  • State of Texas state license or at the primary Operating Location such as Florida, New Mexico, or North Carolina of assignment to practice or able to obtain a license within four (4) months of contract employment; maintained during employment.
  • Must be a US Citizen and have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.

Nice To Haves

  • Obtain one of the following certifications and/or certificates within one hundred twenty (120) days and maintain currency accordingly: National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) certified personal trainer (CPT) or higher; EXOS Performance Specialist or higher, or National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) or Certified Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES)
  • Minimum of two (2) years as a Certified Athletic Trainer - collegiate level or higher.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct an initial assessment of a student’s injury or illness to provide emergency or continued care, and to determine whether they should be referred to physicians for definitive diagnosis and treatment.
  • Care for student injuries using physical therapy equipment, techniques, and medication.
  • Evaluate student's readiness to return to training and provide participation clearances when necessary and warranted.
  • Apply protective or injury preventive devices such as tape, bandages, or braces to body parts such as ankles, fingers, or wrists.
  • Collaborate with physicians to develop and implement comprehensive rehabilitation programs for student injuries.
  • Advise athletes on the proper use of equipment.
  • Plan and implement comprehensive student injury and illness prevention programs.
  • Supervise and conduct physical training programs with consideration to individual injuries.
  • Develop training programs and routines designed to improve student performance.
  • Provide care to student for medical issues on a daily basis and coordinate with appropriate military personnel along with the Paramedic, Coaches, Program Manager, and other contractor personnel as determined necessary for the situation.
  • Maintain cleanliness and general upkeep of training facility to include, but not limited to, medical and fitness equipment.
  • Organize and establish general rules of conduct for the training room facility.
  • Recommend any changes to the respective HPSG, SWTS, Operations Manager and/or SWOMS leadership in regard to all athletic training supplies and equipment used at the SWTW Courses.
  • Keep accurate records of all injuries, method of treatment, rehabilitation, and medical releases.
  • During normal operations, provide relevant information to SW medical staff to support the students’ medical needs.
  • Keep the respective HPSG, SWTS, Operations Manager and/or SWOMS leadership informed daily, and more frequently as situations dictate, of all students treated by the AT staff (as required).
  • Provide a weekly summary report (non-PII) to the respective HPSG, SWTS, Operations Manager and SWOMS leadership on all treatments and activities conducted by the AT staff, including all coordination, planning and activities with non-HPSG personnel. Alternatively, this information may be directly entered into the Human Performance Utilization Tracker (HPUT) or similar database.
  • Provide continuous medical coverage during all scheduled operational hours and training events.
  • Diligently and accurately captures and enters all required data into Government-approved systems (e.g., MHS Genesis, HPUT) in support of clinical care, operational reporting, and Government-led research initiatives.
