About The Position

The Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) reports to the assigned Sports Medicine leader. The AT will be assigned to the College of Charleston, specific team/s and responsibilities TBD based on preference, experience and need, as well as provide training room and cross coverage for additional teams as needed. The AT will provide collegiate-based point of service for sports related prevention, care, coverage and rehabilitation, referral and marketing for musculoskeletal injuries and sports related ailments within a defined environment for athletes under the general supervision of the physician, physical therapist, physician assistant and or nurse practitioner. Previous experience with collegiate and/or professional sports teams preferred. Job includes in and out of state travel responsibilities for game coverage as well as pre- and post- game treatment.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited college with a BS/BA.
  • Certification by the Board of Certification for Athletic Trainers (BOC).
  • Licensed as an Athletic Trainer in by the South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation (LLR).
  • Maintain current BLS certification.
  • Must be able to adjust communication both verbal and non-verbal to interact appropriately and effectively with a wide variety of age groups including school age adolescents, adults and geriatrics.
  • Certification by the Board of Certification for Athletic Trainers (BOC) and Licensure as an Athletic Trainer by the SCLLR Board of Medical Examiners.
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Masters degree in Athletic Training preferred.
  • BLS Instructor certification preferred.
  • Previous experience with collegiate and/or professional sports teams preferred.
