About The Position

This position will work closely with the Head Athletic Trainer to support the health, safety, and performance of our student-athletes. Our sports medicine department emphasizes mentorship, collaboration, and professional development. Athletic trainers will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience working with competitive athletic programs while developing their clinical and leadership skills in a supportive team environment. Staff may also have the opportunity to gain additional experience and hours through Compass Sports Performance, working alongside strength and performance professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Provide coverage for Football (Fall Season)
  • Secondary responsibilities may include coverage of more sports as needed
  • Team travel and management of national football programs
  • Evaluate, treat, and manage athletic injuries
  • Develop and implement rehabilitation and return-to-play programs
  • Implement injury prevention strategies
  • Communicate athlete health and participation status with coaching staff
  • Maintain accurate injury documentation and treatment records
  • Collaborate with the Head Athletic Trainer and performance staff
  • Assist with team travel when applicable
  • Attend all practices and games for Football, including home and away games with team travel in and out of state
  • Be in team band for schedule and communication with coaches for Football
  • Be in text communication with head coach and position coaches about injuries and modifications for Football
  • Participate in Football team travel, which may include out-of-state trips of 2-3 days each, and 8-12 days on the road with the team in the fall
  • Weekly schedule (Summer/Fall): 5 am start time M-Th, F TBD for game schedules, occasional Saturday hours for injuries sustained at games
  • Provide secondary coverage for Volleyball, including morning practices (first hour 8-9:30 am)
  • Schedule Winter/Spring: 12-8 pm Flex for Basketball and other game coverage, can shift schedule for late-night games as needed
  • Communicate with coaches and athletes on injuries during Winter/Spring
  • Injury documentation daily for athletes seen
  • Training room upkeep
  • Primary coverage at sports performance center in Spring
  • Decrease hours at Compass, increase hours at performance center when things are slower in spring
  • Basketball coverage while National Basketball AT is away with EYBL team travel
  • Main sport/teams Grind/Girls basketball FALL: Main POC for Grind and Girls basketball programs, available for home games and practices, Main POC for Grind/Girls athletes, coordinate rehabs
  • Schedule Winter: 12 pm Start~ when no games, can shift schedule for late night games as needed
  • SPRING- baseball: Keep track of baseball schedule- onsite/offsite practices, In team Band for communication, In group chat with coaches regarding injuries, Run baseball rehabs and coordinate modifications, Attend baseball practices offsite M-Th, Attend all home games
