This Full-Time Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) role supports the Newport Orthopedic Institute Human Performance and Sports Medicine Program (HPSM). Primarily a 10-month position within Newport-Mesa Unified School District (NMUSD), with potential for year-round opportunities. The ATC will provide hands-on athletic training services to various NMUSD athletic teams. The ideal candidate must be capable of independent work, multitasking, teamwork, and possess strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Providing athletic training services for NMUSD
  • Maintaining a safe, clean, and organized athletic training space and clinical areas
  • Understanding and executing the referral protocol to providers for injuries
  • Managing budget, inventory, and necessary supplies for the training room
  • Performing primary and secondary surveys/evaluations of athletic-related injuries
  • Maintaining medical documentation of student athletic-related injuries
  • Ensuring confidentiality of all documentation
  • Providing game and event medical coverage, including preparation and remaining after events as appropriate
  • Counseling athletes on athletic-related injuries, assessments, rehabilitation, and return-to-play protocols
  • Implementing and utilizing concussion care programs, including ImPACT for baseline and post-concussion protocols
  • Assisting in the organization of pre- and post-participation physicals
  • Supervising student athletic trainers, aides, and volunteers
  • Demonstrating interpersonal skills to work effectively with athletes, coaches, staff, community, and leadership
  • Providing education to athletes and the community on sports injury prevention and care
  • Ensuring HIPAA/OSHA compliance
  • Adhering to Standing Orders from NOI Physicians
  • Maintaining a professional demeanor that supports the NOI brand
  • Working independently, making decisions, and communicating effectively with managers, administrators, and staff
