About The Position

Riverside Healthcare is seeking a dedicated and skilled Athletic Trainer to join our Riverside Medical Group Orthopedics team in Kankakee County and other surrounding communities. The Athletic Trainer will be responsible for providing high-quality healthcare to athletes and active individuals, focusing on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of sports-related injuries. The successful candidate will collaborate with physicians, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive care and rehabilitation services, ensuring the optimal health and performance of our patients. Must have the ability to travel between school affiliates and clinics. Additionally, this position requires flexibility with assignments within professional scope/duties/licensure.

Requirements

  • Completed program and obtained advanced degree in Athletic Training from an accredited institution is required.
  • Board of Certification (BOC) for Athletic Trainers certification is required.
  • Current licensure or eligibility for licensure as an Athletic Trainer in the state of Illinois is required.
  • Must have obtained licensure as an Athletic Trainer from the state of Illinois within 6 months from the date of hire.
  • Current BLS CPR/AED certification for healthcare providers is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with a diverse range of athletes in various sports is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of musculoskeletal injuries and conditions, along with appropriate treatment methods.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and handle stressful situations with professionalism.
  • Proficiency in the use of electronic medical records (EMR) and related software
  • Masters degree in Athletic Training or a related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement injury prevention programs tailored to individual athletes and teams.
  • Educate athletes, coaches, and parents on safe practices, injury prevention strategies, and proper use of equipment.
  • Conduct thorough evaluations of musculoskeletal injuries and conditions.
  • Provide accurate diagnoses and develop treatment plans in collaboration with healthcare providers.
  • Develop and execute personalized rehabilitation programs to facilitate recovery and return to activity.
  • Apply therapeutic modalities and techniques, including manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, and functional training.
  • Respond to emergency situations during athletic events and practices, providing immediate care for acute injuries.
  • Ensure the safe transport of injured athletes to appropriate medical facilities when necessary.
  • Maintain open communication with physicians, physical therapists, coaches, and other stakeholders.
  • Document and report on the progress of rehabilitation programs and outcomes.
  • Assist in the development and management of athletic training programs and services within the healthcare system.
  • Initiate and administer an athletic training student-aide program in accordance with the schools clubs and activities guidelines and state law.
  • Participate in community outreach programs and promote health and wellness initiatives.
  • Assist with administrative tasks related to athletic training services, including scheduling, inventory management, and equipment maintenance.
  • Attend professional development courses and workshops to stay current with industry standards and advancements in athletic training.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to the continuous improvement of services offered.
