The Athletic Trainer Clinic position supports the Orthopedic Sports Medicine department by assisting providers in clinic operations, patient care, education, safety, and scribing. The role involves helping to maintain patient flow and communicating patient conditions to the provider.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training or Exercise Physiology from a CAATE accredited program.
  • Less than 1 year of experience.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks, organize workloads, and manage time.
  • Ability to educate patients on exercise instruction.
  • Ability to coordinate care services with other health care providers.
  • Must be able to travel within 50 miles of home cost center.
  • AT - Athletic Trainer BOC - State of Pennsylvania within 1 Year
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire
  • ATL - Athletic Trainer License - State of Pennsylvania within 1 Year

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Athletic training or Exercise Physiology from a CAATE accredited program.

Responsibilities

  • Scribe the note for provider which includes HPI, physical exam, diagnostic review, discussion/summary and medical/work excuse.
  • Assists in rooming the patient and completing clinical intake.
  • May enter order for: x-rays per protocol as LVPG standard, medication under the direct supervision of the provider (per LVPG protocol and standard), for further workup studies (MRI, CT Scan, EMG) under the direct supervision of the provider (per LVPG protocol and standards).
  • Review daily schedule and bring scheduling changes/adjustments to provider’s attention (includes rescheduling or calling other office/individual to confirm specific equipment is available).
  • Demonstrates appropriate knowledge base of anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, and nutrition.
  • Performs other supportive functions for the orthopedic providers including but not limited to: suture/staple removal, casting, bracing, splinting, DME and crutch fitting and dispensing.
  • Draw injections for provider and assist with injection procedure.
  • Assist with completing surgical communication tool.
