About The Position

GiaCare Inc. is accepting applications from experienced Certified Athletic Trainers for a future opportunity supporting the Human Performance (VIPER II) program at Joint Base San Antonio. This position is being recruited in anticipation of contract award. Qualified candidates will be considered for employment upon contract award. As the Head Athletic Trainer, you'll oversee the Athletic Training Program supporting the 37th Training Wing. This leadership position is responsible for coordinating the Sports Medicine Hub and embedded Athletic Training Facilities (ATFs), collaborating with Sports Medicine Physicians and Human Performance leadership, ensuring high-quality patient care, and providing leadership to Senior and Staff Athletic Trainers across multiple JBSA locations.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizen
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Athletic Training from a CAATE-accredited Athletic Training Education Program
  • Current, full, active, unrestricted Texas Athletic Trainer license
  • Current NATABOC certification
  • Current in-person Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Ten (10) or more years of experience diagnosing, treating, and/or preventing musculoskeletal injuries as a Certified Athletic Trainer in a high school, collegiate, professional sports, or military training setting.
  • Three (3) or more years of experience overseeing a sports medicine or athletic training program consisting of three (3) or more Athletic Trainers and/or Strength & Conditioning Coaches.

  • Having at least one peer-reviewed original research article as an author/investigator
  • Experience with quality improvement and research initiatives
  • Strong operational management and communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Athletic Training Program under the direction of the designated Sports Medicine Physician.
  • Coordinate operations between the Sports Medicine Hub and all Athletic Training Facilities (ATFs).
  • Serve as the primary liaison between Athletic Trainers and Human Performance Squadron leadership.
  • Attend leadership meetings and briefings regarding Athletic Training Program operations.
  • Oversee referral management, patient safety, infection control, privacy, and administrative compliance.
  • Collaborate with Sports Medicine providers, Trainee Health Squadron providers, and medical experts on research and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with staffing, scheduling, leave coordination, and operational oversight across all embedded sites.
  • Ensure the Athletic Training Program meets mission requirements supporting the 37th Training Wing.
