Certification Engineer

Eagle Wireless•Saint Louis Park, MN

About The Position

The Certification Engineer helps drive Eagle Wireless modules through carrier and regulatory approval. The role coordinates test programs, manages laboratory and carrier portal workflows, troubleshoots issues, and ensures certifications are completed accurately and on schedule. It combines hands-on technical problem solving with cross-functional coordination among engineering teams, carrier partners, and third-party laboratories.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience in wireless device or module test engineering, RF lab engineering, or certification test support.
  • Direct experience supporting carrier test programs or comparable carrier-laboratory support work.
  • Hands-on cellular protocol trace analysis, including the ability to interpret LTE, 5G NR, and IMS logs and isolate failures.
  • Willingness and ability to work on-site at carrier and third-party laboratories, including travel days.
  • Experience reading and challenging third-party laboratory test reports for accuracy and completeness.
  • Depth of knowledge in 5G NR, RedCap, NB-IoT, and Cat-M technologies, including how 5G NR test campaigns differ from LTE.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior on-site work at carrier laboratories or accredited third-party carrier-certification laboratories.
  • Exposure to cellular module certification, including work with major cellular module manufacturers.

Responsibilities

  • Support carrier certification and regulatory testing programs by coordinating test schedules, managing samples, tracking milestones, and ensuring documentation is submitted on time.
  • Manage carrier portal access, submit applications, upload reports, monitor status, and coordinate credentials across AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, Bell, Rogers, and PTCRB.
  • Serve as the on-site technical presence at carrier and third-party laboratories during certification test campaigns.
  • Debug devices at the lab bench when tests fail, including swapping firmware, isolating root causes, and unblocking testing.
  • Triage and debug field test failures by reproducing issues in the lab, collaborating with R&D, and driving root-cause analysis and resolution.
  • Analyze logs across 5G NR, LTE, IMS, VoLTE, and VoNR using cellular protocol diagnostic and network capture tools.
  • Perform internal self-testing using carrier-defined test scopes.
  • Review and challenge third-party laboratory test reports, verify accuracy, flag gaps, and request reruns as needed.
  • Log laboratory-identified defects in Jira, route them to R&D for root-cause analysis, and track them through fix validation and retest closure.
  • Coordinate with third-party laboratories on test quotations, scope, and pricing; confirm test plans and sample counts before purchase orders are issued.
  • Support the full carrier certification lifecycle, from pre-certification readiness through test milestones, retest cycles, and final submission.

  • Medical, dental, and vision benefits.
  • Generous paid time off.
