About The Position

Provides treatment under the direction of an occupational therapist as prescribed by the referring physician and supervising occupational therapist. Recommends changes in treatment plan to the supervising occupational therapist based upon patient condition and response to treatment.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program with Associates Degree
  • Current CPR certification
  • Access to personal vehicle or public transportation in order to access all clinics in assigned territory
  • Ability to read, write and speak English proficiently

Nice To Haves

  • Previous hand therapy experience preferred or alternatively work in an outpatient orthopedic upper extremity setting

Responsibilities

  • Adheres to the rules and regulations of the state specific Occupational Therapy Practice Act, Code of Ethics of the American Occupational Therapy Association and organizational policies and procedures.
  • Assists Occupational Therapists in assessment of pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients referred to the clinic with a variety of physical disabilities.
  • Implements treatment program that has been developed by the occupational therapist for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
  • Modifies and/or adjusts treatment program through collaboration with supervising occupational therapist and within the plan of care outlined by the occupational therapist based upon the patient’s response to treatment.
  • Maintains accurate electronic medical records of the occupational therapy services rendered.
  • Provides written instructions to the patient and/or patient’s family detailing the recommended home program.
  • Communicates patient’s status to the supervising occupational therapist, and/or referring physician. This includes participation in patient staffings and/or conferences.
  • Completes necessary charge and statistical information to accurately reflect the service rendered to the patient.
  • Achieves and maintains a level of productivity which meets or exceeds the standard established by the organization.
  • Performs other duties as requested.
