About The Position

The Certified Medical Assistant will perform delegated clinical and administrative duties consistent with Medical Assistant program education, training, and experience. May work in both the clinical and front office functions of the practice providing clerical support, assisting in the delivery of health care and patient care support activities at the direction of the physician/provider. The incumbent performs the duties described below in accordance with the specific needs of the practice. If working in the Rural Health Clinic setting, will be required to have BLS through the American Heart Association. This position requires working every 5 out of 6 weekends.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED and completion of a medical assistant (MA) program, certification course, or equivalent MA training/experience.
  • CMA-Certified Medical Assistant current certification by one the following approved certifying agencies: American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), earning CMA credential. American Medical Technologists (AMT), earning RMA credential. National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), earning NCMA credential. National HealthCare Association (NHA), earning CCMA credential. American Heart Association (BLS for Health Care Providers) to be completed within 2 weeks of hire date. National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP). American Allied Health (AAH).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to be detail oriented.
  • Specific knowledge and training related to the performance of administrative skills, technical / clinical skills and medical procedures commonly performed in a medical practice setting.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience as a medical office assistant or CNA or equivalent.
  • Previous experience with an electronic health record.
  • Previous experience with phlebotomy.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of Epic.
  • Exceptional customer service and phone etiquette.
  • Ability to maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow.
  • Ability to perform phlebotomy and administer injections.
