About The Position

Assists in examination and treatment of patient care under the direction of a provider. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients and places instruments and equipment appropriately. Cleans and sterilizes instruments. Under the direction of the physician; collects specimens (including phlebotomy). This includes administration of some specific medications/immunizations. Inventories and orders medical supplies and materials. Cleans, stocks and maintains exam rooms, procedure rooms and assigned work area. Under the direction of the physician; follows procedures when obtaining physician approval on refills and documenting the change in the electronic medical system. Responsible for proactively assisting the Physician/Advanced Practice Provider as requested. Attends/Completes required meetings and in-service training. Participates in the CPI program for continuous quality improvement and risk management purposes. Participates in CPI program. Maintains compliance, is knowledgeable, and utilizes the guidelines of all state and federal laws and regulations as they pertain to the position including, but not limited to; Health Insurance Portability Accountability Act (HIPAA), Scope of Practice, Accreditation Standards, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Bureau of Primary Health Care/ Health Resources and Services Administration (BPHC/HRSA), National Committee for Quality Assurance/Patient Centered Medical Home (NCQA-PCMH), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment (CLIA), Joint Commission on Accreditation of healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), and other HRSA related regulatory functions and/or agencies that Family Circle of Care participates in. Patient Centered Responsibilities Participates in team huddles to promote clear communication amongst care team and treating provider. Provides quality patient service by rooming patients in a timely manner. Responsible for assisting with patient flow through clinic. Interviews patients, obtaining needed information pertinent to the purpose of visit/patient condition and accurately communicating this information in the electronic medical record system and to the provider. Measures vital signs, such as pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height, and records information in patients' charts. Schedules appointments, tests and laboratory services, entering appointment date and time, ensuring that schedule reflects appropriate clinician and effective use of clinical hours. Assists providers with patient related calls including giving results. Supervisory Responsibilities This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant program
  • Knowledge of Internet Explorer Internet software, Electronic Medical Record software, and 10-key by touch data entry.
  • CPR Certification, renewed every two years
  • Medical Assistant Certification from an accredited agency preferred.
