The Ceramic Instructor teaches festival guests of all experience levels the basics of throwing a pot, typically in approximately 15 minutes, while maintaining a positive attitude. The instructor manages guest lines and supports coworkers working at the pottery wheels. Duties also include preparing and reclaiming clay, occasionally leading hand-building sessions for groups of 5–10 guests, and providing attentive, welcoming customer service. The instructor keeps the work area clean, organized, and stocked; helps maintain a pleasant environment for customers and colleagues; follows the schedule set by the Supervisor and the festival’s operating procedures; and performs other assigned duties. The role is based in an open-air, roofed studio and involves working at a wheel, including hand manipulation of clay and sitting for extended periods.
