About The Position

Goodstart Portland is seeking a Centre Cook to prepare delicious, healthy meals that support children’s growth and shape their daily experiences. The role is based in Portland, south-west Victoria, on the traditional territory of the Gunditjmara people, and is part-time at 30 hours per week. The position pays up to $35.44 per hour plus superannuation and benefits. The roster has no nights, weekends, or split shifts. The Cook plans menus and orders food supplies in consultation with the Centre Director, prepares meals that account for children’s dietary requirements and allergies, and maintains hygienic food storage, handling, and preparation practices. Candidates need a Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or experience cooking in a childcare setting, as well as a current Working with Children Check. Candidates must also have or obtain a valid Working with Children Check and complete the National Child Safety Foundation Training through the Geccko platform.
