About The Position

This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Saddleback Medical Center. The employee shall support Saddleback Medical Center’s strategic plan and participate in and advocate performance improvement/patient safety activities. Utilizing appropriate documents and procedures, the Central Supply Technician must provide inventory and replenish designated areas to ensure appropriate par levels. This position demonstrates the ability to safely move products from the distribution area, utilizing a variety of moving devices including but not limited to forklift, pallet jack and other supply carts. Furthermore, this position is also responsible for using proper body mechanics to avoid injury to self and others. The Central Supply Technician will fill over-the counter and phone requests for medical and non-medical supplies. Lastly, this position must be able to use current computer systems and adapt to functional changes.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Experience in a Central Supply Department within an Acute Care Hospital setting is preferred
  • Computer skills and knowledge is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Replenishes supplies using methods specific to service area to ensure appropriate par levels are consistently maintained throughout the inpatient acute care hospital.
  • Utilizes computer systems to transact and fulfill order requirements in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Receives and fills manual and phone requisitions to effectively fill orders and deliver to requestors in a timely manner.
  • Utilizes automated dispensing systems such as the Pyxis machine to crucial supplies are readily available on each inpatient unit.
  • Documents returned items storing appropriately to ensure all issues are addressed in accordance with department processes.
  • Follows first in first out rotation of stock.
  • Maintains storeroom in an orderly condition be effectively removing boxes and placing items in their assigned and appropriate location.
  • Maintains accurate records in accordance with department policies and procedures.
  • Ability to be at work and be on time.
  • Ability to follow company policies, procedures and directives.
  • Ability to interact in a positive and constructive manner.
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask.
