About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Central Supply Equipment Tech Supervisor, the central supply equipment technician is responsible for the proper storage and distribution of patient care equipment used by departments, clinics, and nursing units throughout the Facility. This role requires maintaining utmost confidentiality, adhering to hospital policies, and demonstrating ethical business practices. The technician will use and be trained on the MMIS system for data management and tracking. Key responsibilities include ensuring equipment is properly stored and powered, logging equipment for repair, managing rental and consignment inventory, cleaning and sanitizing equipment according to guidelines, maintaining par levels on clinical units, restocking crash carts, assisting customers with supplies, locating missing equipment, and working with equipment representatives on updates and new implementations.

Requirements

High School diploma or GED required.
Minimum six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
Use and be trained on the MMIS system; able to search and find data within MMIS system.
Follow all applicable infection control procedures when storing, delivering, and handling equipment and supplies.

Nice To Haves

Additional certification relevant to the job duties from a college or technical school preferred.

Responsibilities

Proper storage and distribution of patient care equipment.
Maintain utmost level of confidentiality.
Adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
Demonstrate business practices and personal actions that are ethical and adhere to corporate compliance and integrity guidelines.
Use and be trained on the MMIS system; able to search and find data within MMIS system.
Ensure that all equipment in the centralized equipment room is plugged into electrical sources if applicable.
Ensure that all equipment requiring repair are logged and taken to biomed for repair.
Responsible for the return of rental equipment including calling vendor for pick up and maintaining adequate records.
Maintain consignment inventory and ensure that all documentation related to the issuance of the equipment is complete and accurate.
Ensure that all equipment is cleaned and sanitized according to the manufacturer recommendations or central supply guidelines.
Follow all applicable infection control procedures when storing, delivering, and handling equipment and supplies.
Maintain the par levels on clinical units for all designated equipment in clean utility room.
Check, exchange, and restock the crash carts.
Assist in obtaining supplies for customers from the warehouse distribution area and ensure that item(s) are expensed/issued out in the MMIS system.
Work with patient care areas in helping find lost/missing equipment.
Track where equipment was last issued from the equipment room by entering description of equipment, date, time, serial number, and department where equipment was delivered.
Track which department used their crash that is needing to be restocked and issue replacement items to that department.
Work with equipment representatives updating equipment or implementing new equipment.
