About The Position

The Central Supply Clerk position is responsible for establishing and maintaining adequate stock levels of necessary supplies within the facility. This role may also provide clinical and administrative support to the nursing department. The position ensures that supplies are organized, clean, and readily available 24 hours a day, including weekends. A key responsibility is managing inventory, ordering medical supplies weekly to avoid extra shipping costs, and ensuring Over the Counter medications are stocked for a month's supply. The clerk also works with the Executive Director/Director of Nursing to manage the budget and maintain a Budget Control Worksheet. The role requires adherence to Cantex Continuing Care Network's Clinical Policies and Procedures for Abuse Prevention, participation in weekly in-services, and ensuring patient/resident safety. Other duties as assigned are also part of the role.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one-year experience in central supply within a long-term care setting is preferred.
  • Accurate typing skills of 40 wpm or more are needed.
  • Computer literacy is mandatory.
  • Ability to read, speak, and write the English language.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Nursing Assistant or Certified Medication Aide preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains established par levels of supplies necessary to meet patient/resident needs.
  • Maintains Central Supply in an organized and clean manner.
  • Makes supplies available 24-hours a day, including weekends.
  • Ensures supplies normally utilized on a day-to-day basis are available in the medication room.
  • Inventories items in the medication room each morning and prior to the end of the shift to re-stock utilized items.
  • Places orders for medical supplies weekly based on the assigned schedule to avoid additional shipping costs.
  • Makes arrangements for supplies and equipment for new admissions as needed.
  • Orders Over the Counter Medications to maintain a par level for one month's supply based on utilization.
  • Purchases Over the Counter Medications from community pharmacy for items not in inventory and ordered by a physician for a new admission.
  • Works with the Executive Director/Director of Nursing to stay within budget by completing the Budget Control Worksheet.
  • Assures patient/resident safety.
  • Performs other duties and tasks as assigned.
