About The Position

As a Central Sterilization Technician, you work behind-the-scenes, but you are a crucial part of our healthcare team. Reducing infections and supporting healthier outcomes for our patients is vital. You're organized, patient, cautious, meticulous with a critical eye and a strong stomach. Not everyone can do what you do the way that you do it. You know that and we know that. Washing, flushing, drying then sterilizing every screw, hinge, tube, and crevice and then reassembling, patient safety and surgical effectiveness are all about the details. Requirements

  • Minimum: 2 years of experience
  • High School Diploma / GED or equivalent
  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician, Certified Instrument Specialist, or Certified Endoscope Reprocessor

Responsibilities

  • Prepares instrument trays and supplies for steam and sterilization using appropriate techniques for loading, operating, and unloading.
  • Processes instruments and supplies from all areas of nursing service and off-site clinics through cleaning, collecting, packaging, sterilizing and storing properly.
  • Monitors the condition of instruments, equipment and reports any needs for repair.
  • Assists operating room personnel by offering information as needed regarding equipment and instrument sets.
  • Assesses/reassesses appropriate equipment and instruments needs for all departments.
  • Ensures all supplies are available for the surgeon, follows-through on replacement/repair of instruments or unfunctional equipment.
  • Follows all regulatory standards throughout decontamination and sterilization processes.
