Central Sterile Technician (Per Diem)
About The Position
Hartford Hospital, a Level 1 Trauma Center and one of New England's largest teaching hospitals, is seeking a Central Sterile Technician (Per Diem) for its Sterile Processing and Distribution (SPS) department. This is a training position where individuals will work under direct supervision for a minimum of 60 days to learn decontamination, instrument assembly, packaging, sterilization, and case cart assembly. Upon successful completion of the training program and validation of skills, the technician will be prepared to obtain Sterile Processing Distribution Technician Certification and be promoted to SPS Tech 1. This role is crucial in supporting the hospital's provision of cutting-edge treatments and advanced care.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Must obtain "Sterile Processing Distribution Technician Certification" from the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution Inc. (CBSPD) or Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) from IAHCSMM within 24 months of hire (in accordance with CT state law).
Responsibilities
- Perform decontamination of instruments.
- Perform instrument assembly.
- Perform packaging of instruments.
- Perform sterilization of instruments.
- Perform case cart assembly.
- Train under the direct supervision of SPS Technician 3 or other assigned trainer for a minimum of 60 days.
- Undergo job skills assessment and validation by trainer and SPS Site Manager before completion of the training program.
