About The Position

As a Central Sterile Supply Technician joining our team, you will support safe, high-quality patient care by ensuring reusable medical instruments, supplies, and equipment are properly processed and available when needed. The Central Sterile Supply team supports departments throughout the hospital by collecting, decontaminating, assembling, sterilizing, storing, and distributing reusable supplies and patient-care equipment. The team works closely with clinical departments to ensure instruments and equipment are processed safely and efficiently according to established guidelines.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Basic Life Support certification required within 30 days of hire.
  • No professional license required.
  • Strong critical-thinking skills and decisive judgment.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work effectively in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Ability to follow equipment manufacturer instructions, hospital policies, and applicable processing requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.

Responsibilities

  • Collects, decontaminates, stores, and distributes reusable supplies and patient-care equipment throughout the hospital.
  • Inspects, decontaminates, assembles, and sterilizes instruments and other patient-care equipment in accordance with established processing guidelines and applicable AAMI, AORN, TJC, and OSHA requirements.
  • Operates departmental equipment daily according to manufacturer instructions, with an emphasis on safety.
  • Provides responsive customer service to hospital departments while maintaining a strong focus on patient needs.
  • Processes and documents sterile supplies and equipment using chemical, biological, and mechanical indicators to verify sterility.
  • Follows manufacturer instructions and hospital policies when processing and documenting sterile supplies and equipment.
  • Monitors and tests antimicrobial and disinfection solutions according to manufacturer instructions.
  • Completes required daily documentation related to antimicrobial and disinfection solution testing.
  • Maintains an organized and efficient work environment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
