About The Position

The Central Sterile Technician works at Garden City Hospital, a state-of-the-art teaching hospital with more than 300 licensed beds and graduate medical education programs. The role is responsible for decontaminating, preparing, and sterilizing Central Sterile trays, instruments, and equipment; managing inventory and restocking supplies; entering data into a computer; and batching patient charge cards. The technician must know department locations throughout the facility and be able to access all departments, communicate effectively in writing and verbally, and demonstrate detailed knowledge of patient supplies and equipment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent, or related experience, for new hires effective April 2014.
• At least two years of experience as a Central Sterile Technician in an acute care hospital setting.
• Current BLS (AHA) certificate.
• Central Supply Certified certification; at designated facilities, certification is required within two years from the date of hire.
