The Central Sterile Supply Worker is responsible for assembling, sterilizing, and cleaning equipment, supplies, and instruments according to prescribed procedures and techniques. This role assures quality production of CSS trays and packs to decontaminate and sterilize surgical instruments, containers, linen, and related equipment using steam and gas sterilizers or disinfectants with antiseptic solutions. The worker will remove gas sterilizers, assemble and wrap packs and trays according to established procedures, and maintain awareness of the environment while monitoring autoclave readings and pressure settings. Responsibilities include transporting sterile packets, documenting loss of equipment and supplies, removing outdated items from stock, and reprocessing as required. The role may also involve operating distilling equipment, preparing and sterilizing bottles of distilled water and normal saline, securing and sterilizing linen, sorting, folding, and storing it. Additionally, the worker may order supplies and linen as needed, maintain a clean and orderly working area, and perform other related duties as assigned.
